To hear music that sounds just like a concert of (new) music from 2023 – that would shock me.
But I think this fear is unfounded, because several factors will have changed and the music will have changed with them. This was also the case in the past: apparently unshakeable institutions (both intellectual and material) perished (gradually or suddenly) and new ones emerged. This process is inexorable, and contains within it the chance of renewal. The wonderful thing about us human beings is that we adapt incredibly fast to changes in our situation, and out of them can develop new forms.

My greatest apprehension would be that neo-liberalism will have killed the arts completely, leaving no room for anything whose only goal is not immeidately making a huge profit. I also fear that since politicians are less and less cultured individuals, the funds now available for contemporary music will have gradually shifted towards pop music and other populist musical idioms that politicians and the wider audience can relate to more easily.
Even now we see big concert halls, that up until recently were only dedicated to classical or contemporary music, hosting more and more pop music or crossover concerts, taking the air out of our lungs in a very brutal way. At this rate, in ten years the Paris Philharmonie and other concert halls will only host symphonic music on rare occasions, exceptionally, while serving as a nightclub the rest of the year 😉

My greatest apprehension would be a homogenization around a single style or trend, or a hesitation by presenting organizations to commission or program experimental works for fear of driving away audiences

I would be apprehensive that the music be dull, superficial, unimaginative, uninventive.
